Special Topics in Philosophy: Topics in Modern and Contemporary Political Theory 3 (3-0-0-0-0)

This course is intended to provide students with an introduction to modern and contemporary debate on government, justice and democracy. Some of the fundamental concepts of political theory will be examined through a close reading of classical and contemporary texts. In addition to reading the texts, students will discuss and evaluate social problems and specific events, debates and practices. Studied texts will include Plato's Republic, Aristotle's Politics, Machiavelli's Prince, Marx's Manifesto, and Rawls' Theory of Justice.
