FR 300 offers an introduction to the francophone literature of Canada from its origins to the present day, with an emphasis on the role of literature in the formation and expression of a cultural identity. Writings of early explorers and missionaries will be studied as well as better known works of literature from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, in order to set the literature in a social context and to explore strategies for its appreciation. Prerequisites: French 250 and 2nd year standing required |
