Fossils and Their Environments | 3 (0-0-3-0-0) |
The course will cover topics of sedimentology, stratigraphy, the fossil record, and will introduce methods of using fossils and sedimentary rocks to reconstruct past environments, with comparison to modern environments. Students should develop the ability to critically evaluate reconstructions of fossil taxa and their environments. Descriptions of rocks, fossils, and sedimentary environments will be used to evaluate how major changes in past and present climates relate to evolutionary events and mass extinctions. Prerequisites: 2nd year standing required and Science (Faculty) (3) |
